Club member Gary Proctor traveled to Chacala, Mexico for his first international project earlier this month and experienced his "Rotary Moment". He was accompanied by fellow club member Dawn Tubbesing and Shawnee Rotary Club member, Kevin Tubbesing as well as many members of the Berkeley, CA Rotary Club. Dawn who generally likes a minimum 4 star resort when she travels, quickly got used to the surroundings. Although not 4 star, the accommodations were very comfortable and the sunsets were amazing. Upon arrival they were provided a warm welcome by the high school students and their parents who were so grateful for the help of all the volunteers. Rotary members were engaged in activities to upgrade the La Prepa High School in Las Varas. From building computer desks, to digging piping trenches, framing a storage area to painting the interiror and exterior of the school building, itt was a hands on project of kindered spirits working for the greater good and putting "service above self". For Gary Proctor, it was the reason he joined Rotary in the first place, This was his Rotary Moment. Check out the photo album to see more of the pictures.
